The Wheel of the Third Owl
June 19, 2005
Tuesday June 21 is the day of the medicine wheel. native american groups celebrate this day with a medicine wheel that helps with the balancing of humanity and nature and represents our ongoing path into the future.
Branches of the medicine wheel can be celebrated individually, building one's own meditational wheel by placing rocks in a circle that represents the totality of the universe, and lines of rocks across the center representing the four directions.
The Third Owl reemerged from behind the tree and is looking nearly complete. notice the tiny bit of fluff cross the top of his head. that is nearly gone and the beautiful feathers have come in. In honor of this beautiful owl and his presence here, i am choosing to call my branch of the medicine wheel "The Wheel of the Third Owl." It would be truly amazing if the day he reallly does choose to fly lands on the day of summer solstice, the day of the medicine wheel.

the other two owl babies are hidden behind him. these three pictures look almost the same but they are separate photos.

this next photo is from last night while the momma owl was circling the house

sunday afternoon taking a siesta on a warm day

this is my favorite photo of all because the little tufts of fuzz on his head make such a cute pattern with the outline of his face and the line down his nose.
